1/2 C butter or margarine
6 TBSP firmly packed brown sugar
6 TBSP granulated sugar
3/4 tsp vanilla
1 egg
3/4 c sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 C Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1 six-oz. pkg, (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
Beat butter, sugars and vanilla until creamy. Beat in egg.
Sift together flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture; mix well.
Stir in oats and chocolate pieces.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 degrees) 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen.
