Pecan Bars

Crust
1 package yellow cake mix
1/2 C butter (melted)
1 egg



1 C chopped pecans (sprinkle over filling)


Filling
2/3 C reserved cake mix
1/2 C firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 C dark corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs



Generously grease bottom and sides of 13 X 9 inch baking pan.  Reserve 2/3 C dry cake mix for filling.


Crust: In large bowl, combine remaining dry cake mix, butter and 1 egg; mix until crumbly.  Press in prepared pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.


Filling: In large bowl, combine all ingredients; beat at medium speed 1 to 2 minutes.  Pour filling over partially baked crust; sprinkle with pecans.  Return to oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until filling is set.  Cool-cut into bars.


Makes 3 dozen bars.
